I’m Kirsten, a Nutritional Therapist registered with the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
Nutritional therapy is a personalised, holistic approach to health, rooted in science and functional medicine. I’m passionate about the influence nutrition and lifestyle can have on overall health and wellbeing, and even seemingly small changes can make a big difference.
Whilst some dietary modifications are likely to benefit everyone, blanket health advice can be confusing and overwhelming because what works for one may not work for another. There is no 'one size fits all'. The health advice that will be of most benefit to you will be that which supports your own specific needs.
Your biochemistry, genetics, life experiences, nutrition, and lifestyle interact with each other every second of every day to make you uniquely individual. No part of your body operates in isolation; it is all interconnected and inextricably linked.
Your daily nutrition and lifestyle choices can result in physiological changes which influence your body's vital functions and natural balance. This dynamic activity, which takes place beyond your conscious awareness, can affect all elements of your health and vitality, from your mood, stress, and energy levels, to your sleep, hormone balance, and immune function.
According to the latest Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey (APMS), common mental health disorders, such as depression and anxiety, are thought to affect at least 1 in 6 adults in England, an estimate which is expected to rise when a new report is published later this year. Personalised nutrition and lifestyle interventions may not offer a magic bullet. but can target the root cause of the problem rather than only managing symptoms. Adequately nourishing your body and brain can have a surprising and profound impact on your long-term health and wellbeing.
I work one-to-one with my clients in a practice that takes the time to really listen, zooming out, and exploring your individual, holistic picture of health. Whether your body is gently whispering to you or starting to yell, whether you are suffering with niggling symptoms or more problematic and chronic health issues, or if you simply want to take preventative steps for the future, investing in your health and wellbeing is a precious and long-lasting gift to yourself. I would love to support you.
